Adult Day Care Worker

POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for providing supervision and assisting in the daily living needs of participants attending the adult day care center. Duties shall include, but are not limited to the following:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
o Maintains a clean, safe, pleasant environment for participants.
o Supervises participants when going to the bathroom, walking in the center, going outside, field trips, etc.
o Provide personal hygiene care, if needed, after toileting of both male and female participants.
o Help prepare nutritious snacks and meals. Make environment pleasant and comfortable (assist in eating, if needed, especially individuals with Alzheimer)
o Assist Activity Coordinator with activities. Help individuals, if needed, to participate in activities.
o Provide emotional support to participants and caregivers. Be sensitive to their needs both physically and emotionally. Consider each persons limitations and feelings as it relates to their limitations.
o Make daily observations and record. Report any unusual changes in behavior or acute physical problems to the Director.
o Establish and maintain a pleasant and open rapport with families/caregivers of participants. Share information and problems as needed.
o Complete at least 10 hours of in-service education on the care of the elderly/handicapped individuals each year.
o Complete CPR and first aid refresher courses each year.

Education
Must have a minimum of a high diploma or GED.
Must have CNA I.
Experience
One year of experience in caring for impaired adults.

Must be at least 18 years of age
Employee must be able to work as a team.
Employee must be able to relate well to a diverse population.
Employee must be able to pass a criminal background record check and substance abuse tests.
